A Mizusashi features a variety of patterns, such as landscape, horse riding, sailing, birds and Shochikubai (pine, bamboo and Japanese apricot), using sometsuke which is the ceramic art technique dyed with blue patterns on white backgrounds. The lower half part consists several curved lines and Koshineji is translated as "waist twist."
